If your favorite season is fall, chances are you don't play about fall. You wait all year for that first gust of chilly air, and you take it as your sign to start wearing tweed jackets, dusting off your old Practical Magic DVD, and lighting all those spiced candles you bought at Home Goods. Fall is a feeling, and for my money, it's the best one. There's the coziness, of course, as you wrap yourself in fleece blankets and light a fire, but it's not as dire as winter, so your morning coffee walks aren't tainted by snow. There's also the sense of mounting possibility that October brings as we count the days until Halloween. We're making stews and adding cinnamon to anything we get our hands on.
