I don't know about you, but for me, few things can make a bad mood worse than being told to smile. No matter what is troubling you, it's rarely something a forced change in facial expression is going to fix.
Nonetheless, there is a certain brand of annoying person who still thinks this is helpful and/or funny, and now, apparently, businesses are getting in on the act as well. A video of the front door of a coffee shop caused controversy on Twitter recently after it was revealed that customers had to smile to open the door and enter the establishment.
Naturally, the notoriously cheerful folks on the former bird app had some choice words to say about that. Life is brutal enough without having to perform for your morning coffee. At least it could encourage you to save money by making it at home instead of buying it.
