Demon's Souls remake developer Bluepoint Games is still working on its original title for PlayStation despite the myriad studio closures and lay-offs affecting the video game industry.
As reported by Eurogamer, Bluepoint head of technology Peter Dalton made clear the studio is still working on the brand new game it announced upon being acquired by Sony, deviating from its tradition as a remake developer.
"Nothing has changed since our statement that we are working on an original title," Dalton said on X/Twitter. "Everything takes time. We are committed to sharpening our skills."

Sony acquired Bluepoint in September 2021 after the studio released its widely praised PlayStation 5 remake of Demon's Souls. The studio is also responsible for the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, and more.
The transition to creating original games was a natural "next step in the evolution" of Bluepoint, studio president Marco Thrush told IGN at the time.
"Our team is a very highly experienced team, the average experience among most people is about 15 years, and all of them come from original development," he added. "It's not like we're a bunch of developers that got trained up on making remasters and remakes. We have that original game development mindset in our hearts, and that's what we're now ready, finally ready, with the support of Sony to push forward and show what we can do, and show what PlayStation can do."
While nothing is known about the project, some fans had grown concerned in the near-three years since the announcement as the industry has struggled with mass closures and lay-offs. Thousands have lost their jobs across the likes of Embracer Group, Microsoft, and Sony, with the likes of Redfall developer Arkane Austin being shut down completely alongside Hi-Fi Rush and Ghostwire Tokyo developer Tango Gameworks. Sony recently shut down its London studio and canceled a number of games.
Sony has a number of announced upcoming PS5 games, including Astro Bot, Lego Horizon Adventures, Marvel's Wolverine, Concord, and more.
