Anthropomorphism is a crazy phenomenon. Over the past couple of decades, we've taken an animal whose primary motivation for sticking around us is treats and pets and turned it into an amusing internet avatar for all kinds of human thoughts and behavior. If cats could understand the way we present them online, I think they would be very confused.
Still, that's no reason to stop creating the prodigious quantities of cat memes that we can find scattered all over the place for the sole purpose of our entertainment. For whatever magical reason, this is a combination that works amazingly. Cat people are nothing if not funny, and they prove it over and over again with the ridiculous images they serve up on the internet. Although, as always, we have to show the bulk of our appreciation to the feline comedians who inspire us. They are the real geniuses of this operation.
