Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! Itās time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. An odd blend this time around, though one of them was a good reminder for me that the Olympics are right around the corner and will provide fodder for many events. Also: more Vay! Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Letās go for it!
Subway Surfers, Free The Subway Surfers kids are heading in the direction of Paris again, this time to celebrate the Summer Games. Joining the crew is weightlifter Helene, who you can unlock by completing the Season Challenge. Thereās also an archer named Leo, and new outfits for Phoenix and Taina. Naturally, there are also some new boards on offer. Seems like a fair bit to do as usual. Good luck to anyone trying to get it all.
JuneĆ¢ā¬s Journey: Hidden Objects, Free Wonāt you take me toā¦ Orchid Town! Wonāt you take me toā¦ Orchid Town! Beep beep boop boop boop, beep beep beep beep boop! Iām doing a whole thing here because there really isnāt a whole ton to talk about in this latest update to Juneās Journey. Thereās some limited time Orchid Town decor that you can collect, and there was also a somewhat late July 4th event that Iām quite sure is over by the time you read this. But I needed a spot filled, and Juneās Journey is nothing if not a good spot-filler.
Star Traders: Frontiers, $6.99 Itās been a while since weāve looked in on Star Traders: Frontiers, but letās do that little thing right now. Thereās a new ship called the Paladin Crusader, which can carry six officers, thirty crew, and has five thousand mass. A couple of new Explorer Cards, and thatās fun. A new Salvage Card, too. The New Trait card in the Black Market has been improved, and the card weights for Explorer decks have been rebalanced. And hey, even the AI gets some treats. New ships for it to play with! Oh, uh. You should probably be careful about that last point. Very cool.
Disney Magic Kingdoms, Free A real potpourri in this latest update for Disney Magic Kingdoms. Season 9 offers up BURN-E, the welding robot from WALL-E, the Wardrobe from Beauty and the Beast, Becky from Finding Dory, and a new attraction from Finding Dory. Some new concessions and decorations, too. I like the more focused updates better, but I guess this is nice once in a while for the oddball characters that donāt merit a full thing of their own.
WHAT THE CAR?, This wacky car is up to its hijinks yet again. Really no stopping it. This latest version adds some new puzzle-based stuff where youāre building your way through levels to earn stamps for your car license, some new achievements for the Sneaky Sas-car episode, and a new camera tool for the Level Creator that allows you to customize your levelās thumbnail for when you publish it. Otherwise, we have a bunch of bug fixes and performance improvements, but you know how much we love those around here! Keep āem coming until every bug ever written is dead. A bug-free utopia where all software programs execute flawlessly. I can see it, Mikhail. I can see it.
Temple Run: Puzzle Adventure, When you think Temple Run, you think matching puzzles. I know I do. My brain has been melted from spending eleven years writing about mobile games, what can I say? At any rate, a new Mirror Story has been added, giving you some new story stuff along with fifty new puzzles to play. The Temple Tournament objectives have also gotten a refresh, so thatās nice. If you want to know all the sordid details of Scarlettās past, this is the Temple Run game you have to play.
Marvel Contest of Champions, Free You would probably expect a Deadpool and Wolverine event to be centered in Marvel Contest of Champions right now, but what we have instead seems like something that could have tied in with Captain America: Brave New World. Two new fighters join the game: Patriot and The Leader. Oh wait, there is a third. Deathless Vision? Okay, he doesnāt have much to do with anything. But thatās cool. There is a little nod here to the latest Marvel movie with a Side-Quest that sees Deadpool and Logan trying to get to the bottom of some missing Alpha Flight members. Some other events in here as well, so as always I will recommend to log in if you want the full skinny.
Toy Blast, Free Itās time for the obligatory free-to-play matching puzzle game update, and since itās been a bit since I picked Toy Blast, thatās what Iām going with. The usual business here, with fifty new levels to play. The person writing the update notes doesnāt put as much in as they once did, so all we have to go on here is some vague summer vibes. Well, itās not like anyone is playing this for the story. Itās not Temple Run: Puzzle Adventure or anything.
Vay, $5.99 Okay yes, this was in last weekās article. Or maybe the one before? But recently, for sure. The thing is, SoMoGa is working fast on addressing player requests on this one, so weāve already got a few nice improvements on that big 2.0 refresh. Thereās a new option that allows you to use the original 16-color backgrounds from the SEGA-CD, an option that allows you to disable healing on level-ups, and a new indicator that shows you who can equip what while youāre shopping. One really great fix is that the filter options now also apply to sprites in battle, which was something that really stuck out before this update. Excellent.
Adventure To Fate Lost Island, $4.99 The winner of the coveted UMMSotW award this week is, yet again, Adventure to Fate: Lost Island. Itās another massive update, so big that I canāt cover it all here. The Endless Arena has been added, allowing you to battle more than three hundred different monsters from all of the Adventure to Fate games. All of them! Some new skills have been added, some skills have been adjusted, and a number of improvements have been made to the UI. Bug fixes? Lots of those. One more step.
That about wraps it up for last weekās significant updates. Iām sure Iāve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and Iāll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
