An established Mortal Kombat 1 dataminer has revealed what he believes to be the next six DLC characters coming to the game.
Dataminer @interloko, who IGN has reported on before, released a video on YouTube that details six upcoming characters, five new announcers, and two new arenas, all found in the Mortal Kombat 1 game files.
Warning: potential spoilers for upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 content follow:
Mortal Kombat 1 is set to round out the six DLC characters included in Kombat Pack 1 with the release of Takeda in July alongside final Kameo character Ferra. Thoughts have now turned to the inevitable Kombat Pack 2 and which DLC characters developer NetherRealm has up its sleeve for the gory fighting game.
According to Interloko, the game files suggest three Mortal Kombat characters are coming alongside three guest characters. They are:
Ghostface’s addition wouldn’t come as much of a surprise, as the character was among a number of potential DLC characters found in an earlier datamine. Then, in September 2023, Mortal Kombat 1 development chief and infamous troll Ed Boon teased fans about potential upcoming DLC characters, tweeting an image, below, showing a number of famous horror villains including Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, and Leatherface, all of whom have green ticks because they have appeared as a guest character in Mortal Kombat in the past.
But it was villains with a green question mark who sparked the most interest. Michael Myers, Pinhead, Chucky, Jigsaw, and Ghostface were all teased in the image.
Conan the Barbarian, famously played by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the much-loved 1982 film, would be a perfect fit for Mortal Kombat given both franchises share an ultra-violent tone. Indeed, NetherRealm has already recreated Arnie’s likeness via the T-800 from the Terminator franchise in Mortal Kombat 11, although Schwarzenegger did not provide voice work.
And speaking of Terminator, the addition of the T-1000 from Terminator 2 would presumably feature the likeness and voice of actor Robert Patrick. Indeed, back in October, Reptile actor Andrew Morgado let slip that Patrick had done T-1000 voice work for Mortal Kombat.
Elsewhere, Interloko said there’s evidence of two new arenas, although he doesn’t know what they are, and five new announcers: Havik, Noob Saibot, Ghostface, Conan, and T-1000.
NetherRealm is yet to announce future DLC plans, but Boon has confirmed Mortal Kombat 1 will get story DLC and “a big surprise after that.” Meanwhile, the Mortal Kombat 2 movie is due out October 24, 2025.
