I have been living in a 12-floor building with hundreds of residents for about a year and I cannot tell you the names of more than five of my neighbors. When I moved, I thought I might meet people in the elevator and get familiar with them, but I hardly ever see anyone, and for some reason, people here do not go out of their way to be particularly friendly to new residents.
So if I had a neighbor like the person who wrote this Reddit story, I would have been overjoyed to have someone give me such a warm welcome. OP (original poster) has invited her new neighbor and her kids over to have dinner and has even made food specifically for her, simply to help her out as much as she can. Then OP discovers that said neighbor has been trash-talking about her cooking with other residents while complaining she didn't make her better meals.
